What question? It's this article, right?

http://www.slate.com/id/2233966/

I have no idea why the formatting keeps coming out crap on "view." It works fine on the comment screen. But you know what it says.

Oh, yeah, I read it. I've read many like it.

The Left hates her with the virulence they reserve for anyone who identifies the Left for what it really is. Over the years (I've read a lot more of Rand than just her novels), Ayn Rand nailed them to the wall again and again.

It's painfully obvious that the author has never come within a parsec of Rand's ideas, seemingly absorbing them second or third hand, and he seems unable to comprehend any ideology that is not based on predation. To be more precise, the Leftist believes that people must prey on each other to survive, and we can only choose between the poor preying on the rich or vice versa. The brain paths just aren't there to perceive a society based on freedom from predation.

It's to her credit she never advocated violence, but she did glorify a worker sabotaging property belonging to an employer , because the worker felt modifications to it violated his principles. Even an unreconstructed old Trotskyite like myself would feel morally uncomfortable about that; it is a direct attack on another man's liveihood. I realize it is only a symbolic action in a novel, but It makes you wonder, as a writer, what were her relations with her editors?

I can see it now, "I'm sorry Ayn, but that love scene really needs to be re-written..."

And thanks for tracking down the rest of the cartoon, I stumbled on it by accident, and realized the punch line had been left off, probably deliberately, but I had no way of (easily) locating it.

BTW, did you check out the Slate article on Rand I linked to below?

That's Peter Bagge, who (among other things) does cartoons for Reason magazine.

The rest of that cartoon can be found here.

You can find a whole bunch more of his libertarian cartoons here, or just get the book.

P.S. in the list of cartoons, check out the multi-part Isabel Patterson biography!
