I know. We had to jump to the new software a little ahead of schedule, and the place wasn't quite ready to move in. It's not the ideal way to move, by a long shot.

This is consistent with the longterm history of the Zone. The kernel of the group came together after MSNBC suddenly disappeared on us. We had temporary homes and then the arrangements blew up. We had a stable couple of years on my server, then my first server blew up. I built a new one, we had a couple more years, then the ISP blew up and we fled to the a new server. After a year we moved to the cloud. After another year, the cloud blew up.

Running away from catastrophe seems to be part of what we do.

I know it's rough each time. But it's not been all bad. I've been impressed by the way everybody fanned out into the new environment like total pros and started to figure it out. We all know the drill.

That's why I'm attracted to the idea of giving y'all lots of access to the buttons and levers. You know what to do with them. You're among the world's most competent forumites.

I want to reassure you, too, that you didn't lose your blog. Amazon managed to save all our data, and I had backups in any case. It's a matter of getting it converted into a format the new software understands.

You already have a blog, of sorts, because the software automatically creates one out of every post you make on the forums. It's at http://habitablezone.com/author/jody/. It's a start, but I know it's not as personalized as what you had before. But I have a few more tricks up my sleeve, and I promise, you'll get your blog back.

Be patient, Jody-san. We're taking baby steps in this software. Robert is working as fast as he can, particularly considering this was all unexpected. He has to hear from us what we don't like, etc. And then we an change some of this ourselves. I think I may have found where last night but I ain't playing with it until I know exactly what I'm doing. OTOH, I may never find the place again. LOL.

We'll progress.

And regarding a blog. You can create a new one in Word Press for yourself. You can copy any and everything over from your old one. If you didn't save all your posts on your HD, bad Jody!

If you go to the top bar where you see "comments," it will show you the most recent comments in edit format. If you click on "posts" at the left of this page, it shows recent posts.

It's a kludge, and you have to jump around a lot. The comment function in "view" stinks. I can't seem to generate useful HTML content, although the "link" function should work.
