Exactly.

When you watch a jury hand down a life sentence to a murderer who took the life of a family’s loved one, you don’t see the family celebrate. There are usually tears and relief that the ordeal of the trial is over. They get the “closure” they were looking for.

I hope the families of the victims of 911 have found their closure.

All of us experienced the cold war. We never knew when flashes and mushroom clouds would fill the skies over our cities. The fear may not have been at the forefront of our everyday lives but we lived under the constant threat of annihilation.

.After 911, we now live in a world where terrorism is engrained on the American psyche.

For the kids of today and generations to come they face the same type of fears knowing that two wars and 8 years has not stopped the “enemy”. There’s simply isn’t an end in sight, even with the death of Bin Laden.

The Taliban started their annual offensive in Afghanistan yesterday. They used a 12 year old boy as a suicide bomber. There was another suicide bombing in Iraq Friday. With no successful attacks on the US, it looks like the “Flypaper” tactic is working. The problem is we can’t bury the trash heap where the flies are hatching.

So yeah, I’m cynical but I don’t mean to rain on the parade. I understand it and don’t condemn it but I also can’t hear the music.

Indeed, I am relieved he is dead….but it is not over…
