I always advocated rope or packing tape, but my wife thought it’d be “cruel.” And she popped a gasket when I brought up 5-minute epoxy.

I used blankets, too. My kids were happy tucked in – sometimes – during early months, but that wore off pretty quick once they developed some mobility. A baby lets you know right off the bat if they’re unhappy being swaddled.

Not sure why they think they need straps.

No shit Sherlock. I know swaddling…I have had two babies and have cared for dozens more over my existence…and have worked on a children’s ward at a local hospital. We live in different times TB. *This* is inhumane. They sell blankets for swaddling. Plain ole’ blankets.

Took some doing to get a “reply” window up.

This is called “swaddling,” and it’s as old as human civilization. Look at a “papoose.”

I suspect it comforts newborns to be confined in some way. Not sure if it’s good for them, but obviously humanity survived thousands of years of it.
