Yep, we all recognized it was British work but they just had to take responsibility for that little bit. But of course, they let it be the British who were whupped at the Battle of New Orleans except I remember one of them stating emphatically that the Brits won that engagement. Looking it up on Wiki, he was half right. No one really won. But then isn’t that true in any war?

And I know that Canada would be there if we needed them. Just as we would help out them if need be. Disaster happens, our troops are on the move, our disaster agencies getting donations and heading out, people donating money, goods and time.

Aboot that whole “burning the White House thing…”

As much as Canadians have “tongue in cheek” fun saying they torched the President’s crib, it must be remembered that it was the British who were behind that whole thing. The notion of an independent Canada hadn’t even really reared it’s head at that point.

I’m pleased to say that not only would a modern Canada strongly condemn any future attempts to burn down the White House, they’d also be the first ones in with lumber and nails to help re-build, if it came to that. It’d be like a good ol’ fashioned barn-raising! All the neighbors would turn up with a dish to pass.

Welcome to the United States of America, Mr. Citizen. Now you can be hated along with the rest of us Americans by just about everybody.

On another site we’ve been having the Battle of New Orleans revisited. The Canucks are gloating over burning the White House and we are gloating over running their asses into the Gulf of Mexico. Now which side of this Battle would you be on?

Your problem is you’re Canadian, and Canadians are way too nice.

You’ll have a lot more fun if you’re angry and pissed off AND get nasty.

And you’re right, nobody gives a rat’s ass what you think (except TB, his only mission in life is to change out minds). Whenever he succeeds at convincing me of something I make it a point not to say so and continue arguing my point as before, just to watch him get steamed.

Yeah, you’re getting the hang of the place just fine.
