I wasn't disputing Brooks, I was just saying that you've dismissed research just as did Eri. If she's rejecting "bad facts," haven't you done the same?

A couple of more articles from liberal publications here, and here.

I honestly didn't think my original NOAA source was going to be controversial.

Well now, TB, to be fair, you've dismissed the work of scientists and researchers who back the notion of climate change caused by human activity, essentially claiming they've been bought and told what to say.

He can be bought or told what to say and not to say. I can spell coverup.

This is old ground, though, and I see no reason to revisit it. I believe there's global warning and you believe otherwise. Let's leave it at that.

I can remember camping out in Oklahoma one night, not to awfully far from Miami. There were tornado warnings and we had my car radio on when the weather was looking dicey.

The warning came on and my friend grabbed me and pulled me down between the tents, as if THEY would have been any protection! We ended up unharmed (no tornadoes there), I locked myself out of my car, her husband and son managed to break into it, our stew bubbled and slightly burned over the fire during the storm but that damn fire kept burning! A truly memorable night.

Then they told me there was a hill full of baby copperheads about a hundred feet or so away. And the beagles started howling. I said, "Fuck it!" and retreated to my car to sleep. Found out the next morning, Annie's husband used my car as protective covering to pee several times that night. He didn't know I was sleeping right next to where he was peeing. Luckily I never woke up.

Definitely a memorable, unique night. I think I hate Oklahoma. Missouri may be next if we get the weather they're saying we're going to get tomorrow.

A good radar site to watch the weather here.

You can click on a spot to get a local radar screen, which you can set to see things like tornado and other warnings.

Some of my earliest memories (in KC) are of the picture on the TV warning of tornados and going to the basement and huddling with my parents and siblings. We had some close calls, according to my mother in a recent conversation.

But to this day, I've never actually seen one. But I have heard one, just a funnel cloud, it never reached the ground, but the sound will stay with me forever. I was in a tent at the time, miles from help.

Stay safe, Eri. Maybe keep some blankets and pillows close to the bathroom to pack yourself into the tub if need be.

And my thoughts today stray to the residents of Joplin.
