Pawlenty's gutsy stand on ethanol subsidies deserves praise and respect. I've always felt gasohol was welfare for conservative farmers, and a way for clueless liberal city slickers to feel they were helping to conserve energy.

Ethanol is a fraud, unless it can be derived by the fermentation of agricultural waste which was destined to be burned or plowed under anyway.
