Seriously, we live in the future. How cool is that?

Quarter of the way there, by one theory.

Some scientists think that the entire universe can be represented by about 512 quantum bits, and the DWave one has 128 qubits. And they are planning to get to 512 soon.

Did you catch at the end of the article the CTO describes Lockheed-Martin as "a large global security company". Now, I would've said an aerospace company when describing LockMart. But considering that a quantum computer scientist once said that "a quantum computer would cut through encryption like a hot knife through butter", you wanna guess which three-letter agency LockMart is fronting for?

Seriously, check out the moebius spook-speak:

Quantum annealing is a prescription for solving certain types of hard computing problems. In order to run quantum annealing algorithms, hardware that behaves quantum mechanically -- such as the Rainier processor in the D-Wave One -- is required. Quantum annealing is conceptually similar to simulated annealing and genetic algorithms, but is much more powerful.

Yep, ya gotta have quantum if ya wanna go quantum. No two ways about it ;-)
