I was friends with both Slick and RNE. I never met them f2f but they both made an indelible impression upon me as few ever have. I still grieve the loss of each of them but I always take a few moments on Memorial Day weekend to look through the myriad of things I have stored on my HD of things the two of them sent me and shared with me. I found this one today that stood out. I think Slick wrote it. I share it with you today. Tuesday I will delete the writings since copyright will have passed to his children and I do not know who they are to ask them for permission to quote this:
“Once I stood at full attention,
Full Dress,
Sabre Polished
No Expression,
and heard the one thing a soldier
cannot hear and not be
Moved.
Taps,
One Bugle,
Silence,
7 Soldiers Fire 3 times.
And the tears down an Expressionless Face.
Go With God those young Men and Women who gave it all for their country”

I don't think any of his relatives would mind this going out on Memorial Day.

I hope not.
