But, as VRB says, no joy, but court documents of the time would be under that name.

Not much luck with Google books, except there seems to be an account of what happened from the subject’s own writing, in his book “Return of the Thunderbeings.” His view of course, but it is all I can find so far. Can only get a snippet view of the book from Google:

“All my witnesses mysteriously vanished, and the trial was a complete fiasco. Even one of the special agents used to … After I filed for a new trial, one of the key witnesses broke down and admitted that all the key witnesses had lied; …”

He was convicted of rape, kidnapping and robbery in 1977, and of an escape attempt in 1991. Court information online is fogged by a case involving his right to wear long hair in prison or something. There are damn few references online to his original crimes.

Seems like another “Mumia” thing to me. As with the progressive cultural phenomenon Mumia Abu-Jamal, the crime committed seems to be almost beside the point.

Then the old fashoned way might be in order. I agree the Wiki was rather wanting in the description of the crime he was imprisoned for.

If you had Lexus-Nexus, you’d be able to dig deeper into newspapers from the period of his trial. Your local library may be able to help out on this.

Otherwise, court records of the affair might be available online, but you’ll have to find out where the trial was, when it was, etc.

Try combining internet searches with modifiers like: arrested, convicted, sentenced, records, etc. That can help. Advanced searching can eliminate annoying and irrelevant results.

Wikipedia was what started me on this quest. The References are either irrelevant or nonexistent when it comes to his past, and the Talk page wasn’t much better. After thinking on your posts, I’ve left a post on the Talk page of Iron Thunderhorse, but I doubt I’ll get a response anytime soon. Also, when I post those things, I tend to forget about them.

I AM looking on other websites, though all I can gather is hearsay, blind support, or defamation. Since I am feeling lazy (as I have mentioned earlier), I decided to get your help in finding the truth. Also, I have a feeling if I email the guy or his group, then they won’t be particularly forthcoming with information…..

Plus, y’know, you can’t really use emails as sources for Wikipedia entries.

A good place to start with any research is Wikipedia, but it’s critical not to stop there. Wikipedia is a good place to track down a list of primary sources, but the writers of the main articles aren’t always reliable.

Thanks, But I know about his connections to the ACQTC. They did recommend saveironthunderhorse.com, but that site seems to be down at the moment. Tehy also stated that they would not discuss the matters of their members, especially their chief, since it might detract from their cause (their specific words were “draw attention away”, but that’s the impression I get.
