If it wasn't for my wife, I would gladly live on a 20' Flicka.

By the way, thousands of shotgun shacks just like this were built by the cigar factories in Tampa to house their immigrant labor around the turn of the 20th century. Many are still standing, and occupied, even though they were often poorly maintained.

My house of 21 years is 2,200 square feet. It has served me well. As retirement edges closer, I am re-thinking my space. Mom still lives with me and I simply can not plan too far ahead with two adult children with minimal coping skills.

I can't have it all...so I wonder if I could live in this tiny castle. I think for piece of mind, and most importantly, balance...I would need this abode nestled on a fair amount of open range....in bumfuck.

As it is...the house where I live now is spacious enough, but on a postage stamp lot.

Underground you wouldn't need cooling, just a bit of heating. You'd live at a constant temperature which would probably be in the 50's. Caves are at the average local temperature. So you'd save money on a/c but you'd have electrical expense for constant lighting.

I think it's quite cute. Could my family live there? Yeah, I think so. Our current house is on the smaller side and we do just fine.

The only possible sticking point is that our son's a little older now and appreciates his space. A loft that appears to be only slightly bigger than a bed might not cut it anymore.

I'd need just a few more square feet in kitchen. Actually, that IS my kitchen. As far as room to work and countertop space are concerned. Yeesh.

Actually, for a majority of the planet, this would be the height of luxury. The homes our church kids build in Mexico are no bigger, and they have no plumbing.

Me? No thanks. My house is way too small as it is.

That kid looks happy to live there, doesn't he?
