I got them all, although I dithered on a couple before finally choosing. I write from a male POV quite frequently and I hope I do it well.

I always remember with the male, he wants to usually control but beyond that (which is not ALWAYS true), he is a "fixer" and wants to solve any problem presented. Where a female goes at things from a different angle, not to necessarily fix but to obtain or give nurturing. So when you see the emotion (or lack of it) behind the writing, you can usually tell if it's written by a male or female. However, there are some very, very good writers who write so well, they get into the mind of the opposite sex very well.

The ones I dithered about were Salman Rushdie's piece, John Irving's piece and Margaret Atwood, all very polished very good writers able to get into the mind of both sexes. I could have just as easily have missed those three but came down on the correct side in the end by evaluating the use of wording. I find that males and females word things in a certain way(and use certain words) that is usually a "tell."

4 out of 10. About what one might expect for random picks. I do know that writing from a woman's point of view is something I would not dare even try.
