We all get tricked by these things now and again, especially with a media that is eager to exploit the next horrible thing.

But the ones that got really tricked are the local authorities and the judiciary that bought into this. And they violated someone's constitutional rights against unreasonable search. Based on a vision.

No bodies:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/06/07/national/main20069888.shtml

No, seriously, a warrant can be issued because a psychic had a vision? This passes for probable cause? A judge signed off on this?

Wow. The final story will be weird, of course, but that a private property can be searched based upon a psychic's delusions should concern any American.

"Well, your honor, we need this warrant because somebody had a dream."

Sigh.

The Age of Reason is over.

yup.

While I haven't watched that great flick in years, I just bought a copy the other day for our library.

(I bought it at the liquidation sale of the local Mom and Pop video store. A sad occasion. Been renting from them, pretty much exclusively, for 15 years.)

Wait for it...

To be more specific, it's "Mass grave reported..."

Most recent info, after the warrant was served, is nothing, so far:
http://www.click2houston.com/news/28161379/detail.html
Not sure about the psychic bit, it may or may not be a hoax. If not, that a nut job who thinks they have psychic powers results in an actual warrant is frightening.

I suspect the 16 year old wanted to get them in trouble for having a bag of weed, but called in for a mass grave. I could be wrong, but the way this is being reported shows what is the matter with journalism today.
