Good post, Jody. That is the type of Conservative with whom we can speak, find common ground and come to agreement. That’s what government SHOULD be about, not pointing fingers and name calling.

I was a true believer in the American Dream. I am a traditional housewife. I am a loner to the point of isolationist. This is unrealistic for our country.

I will always be a Libertarian…but I am not in this alone. Times are changing…and I have to finally acknowledge how that is manifesting. I want to stay true to my beliefs…and I will. I don’t know how my beliefs will translate in the bigger picture. Actually Tom…I am rather confused right now.

Such a good question…that I can not answer yet because everything shifted last weekend and I have to sort this out.

I would love to ask you who you like…but to be fair to myself, I need to figure this out on my own.

That’s about as perfect a post as I’ve ever seen, Jody. Everything you say is spot on.

I think I understand where TB’s frustration is coming from, though. My initial post really was partisan, terribly so.

Speaking only for myself, perhaps I focus on Palin essentially as a stalling tactic, a way to avoid really listening to the right.

Well, enough already. A very wise person I know once wrote “People want to listen,” and she’s 100% correct.

Tom it isn’t about what they do. It is about what we, as conservatives do. Someone has got to step up to the plate and be a hero to the everyman. mcfly and ER are moderates. They are open to ideas. When someone like Calamity Jane represents our side of the issues, with her haughtiness, she alienates anyone who might be willing to listen. She already has the following of conservatives.
But our world consists of more than conservatives.

Some people who voted for Obama are sadly discouraged right now. Sensitive to what will happen next election. What will happen to *them*. Obama has basically let them down. These are rational human beings who want what they feel is best for everyone,also. This is not a bad thing.

Sarah, if she wants validity with the people who are open to her words, needs to reign her attitude in, and come up with viable alternatives to this ever changing country. People will listen. People want to listen.
