The book predated the movie by 16 years. It wasn’t even a particularly good book, IMHO, but the plot outline is a masterpiece.

It’s about a priest impersonator who has infiltrated the Vatican’s elite commando squad (a highly-trained top secret unit within the Swiss Guard, the Pope’s personal hit men). During an earthquake in Rome, a wall collapses and he discovers Jesus’ mummified body in the Catacombs, where the Church has hidden it to cover up the truth about the Resurrection.

So he and his hippie friends steal the corpse and go on the road with it. Great stuff.

They’ll put him on display and charge for people to view his remains and use the funds to promote terrorism so we’ll have to grab Bin Laden again. This time they’ll have to drop him in acid first and then dump his body weighted with an anchor. Katie Couric would do nicely. (Ba da bah bing).

But I bet they weighted bin Laden’s body down with a box of his own porn. That much weight would probably take him straight to the bottom.
