Yeah, they look like Klingon Birds of Prey. Didn’t you post some video of one of those guys capsizing, or was that some other website I monitor?

The North Bay on a summer afternoon can be a pretty nasty place, especially on an ebb tide. I’ve had some pretty scary moments out there myself, all assholes and elbows and flogging sails between Alcatraz and Treasure Island.

The Cup has evolved from a genuine offshore, transatlantic contest to a gentleman’s rally to a drag race.
At least this time, there will be some excitement.

America’s Cup is going to be here in the Bay Area pretty soon. Some boats are already practicing. If you can call those weird things “boats.”

America’s Cup racing is for wimps.

Ted Turner won the Cup in 77, but he also won a stormy offshore bluewater race (FastNet, 79) that sank several yachts and killed several sailors.
