I was immersed in all that stuff, and hey, I'm not gay, a drug user, or any of that other stuff. Heck, when I was a kid Fred Flintstone and Joe Camel were selling cigarettes, and yet I never had the urge to smoke. Maybe these things aren't something that can really be "inflicted" on someone? If I don't buy the Left's version of Madison Avenue's omnipotence in controlling our culture, why should I buy the Right's version?

Some good news: From what I see (although I don't see all that much), movies and TV don't glamorize or trivialize drug use nearly as much as they did a generation ago.

The main reason it isn't working is because we aren't even trying. Pop culture is allowed to glorify and celebrate drugs. They tell our kids how cool and hip it is to do them. The "anti-drug" messages are jokes. Most of them are done by known dopeheads who are probably high while reading the cue cards.

You want to know who's really to blame? It's the fiends in charge of the enternainment industrial complex. The ones who try to sexualize our preteen girls, the ones who have been pushing a pro homosexual agenda on tv and in movies for the past 40 years, the ones who push trash culture as hip and cool. These are the enemies who are seeking to poison our society and turn it into an open sewer. Until something is done about them, it will only get worse.

It's delightful to see that even the National Review is starting to expose Bill Bennett for the pious humbug and pompous fraud he really is.

Nobody is saying drug addiction isn't a problem. So is alcoholism. The point is, the current approach isn't working.

At some point, the bottom line for ANY policy should be, "does it work?"

However...do you have any idea what a problem prescription drugs are?

Unfortunately, I do. The problem is bigger than any one knows.

Police have no idea how to test for Xanax. This problem will never go away.

If ya'll knew how much danger we are in just driving on the road with people abusing prescription drugs at the wheel, you would never leave the house.

80 year old ladies sell their Oxycontin to the more than willing.

Ya know those drug intervention series? I have a friend that smokes crack while watching that.

Marajuana is the least of our worries.

There are no valid arguments for legalization. It's all drug induced fantasy. Allowing drugs is just another example of accepting the least common denominator in our society. Racing to the bottom with trash culture becoming mainstream.

The "war" on drugs has failed because it has never been fought like a war. Drug addicts should be forced into real drug rehab, dealers and trafficers should be shot, and the kingpins should be hunted down like Bin Laden was.

I wasn't making an accusation. I knew you were just making a joke. I just didn't get it. In fact, I still don't.

I realize the similarities between the Prohibition/Bootlegger and the War on Drugs/Dealer are enormous, but that is so obvious and has been pointed out so many times I just figured you were getting at something else. It's not like you to belabor a metaphor, at least, not a non-political one.
