Tom, you are not ME, you were not in my circumstances with MY retirement accounts and ready to retire next year. So get off it. You’re wrong. You are trying to tell ME how I should have handled my affairs when you know very little about my circumstances and choices. That’s arrogant. Just like most Republicans, you try to control things that are not your business.

When all you’ve got to live on is in volatile markets, your advice is asanine. “Just don’t look and it’ll go away.” Right, we didn’t look as often as we should have and a lot of people’s money went away.

Secret number one: during a “frisky” market period, don’t look at the statements. Anyway, I’ve been slowly rebalancing away from volatility. Not because I think things are going to hell, but because that’s normal for my age group. If I was advising a 25 year old on IRAs, I’d have different advice.

I didn’t have the time to wait for them to come back and got out while I could. Honestly, the stress was killing me watching the market volatility. I’m not kidding. My BP was sky-high. So I can’t afford to play the stock market health wise.

My retirement funds mostly came back. I basically sit on my investments, not because I’m an investment genius, but because I’m anything but.

I was watching my retirement funds disappear and cursing them all. I still curse them all but Republicans more because they get my ire up with their moral issues.

I’ve been cracking up over the President started the conflagration about being absent from Washington on Holidays when there is work to be done. He was right, of course. Congress takes a helluva lot of long breaks. The normal working Joe doesn’t have that opportunity. I’m sick of all of them taking advantage of us on our tax dollars. They should only be paid for the days they work.

Of course, they hit back with him going off on money gathering trips. Personally, I think no sitting President or Congressman or Senator should be allowed to do any politicking while in office. If they want to run, resign and run for the next tour. It’d get the SOB’s out of there for alternate cycles.

They’re all running for office on OUR dime and OUR time. Shame on them.
