Two more short nonsense ones this morning. Unless the Trash file is public, it doesn’t seem like it checks for the presence of the earlier ones first. It’s probably just a set sequence. A bit less scary.

If they follow the pattern from before, the Poor Spelller will try a couple of more times and the other two will keep trying to respond over the next couple of days.

Changing the text could be a fun experiment. Or just replacing the whole comment with a “Get Lost” or a silly graphic.

But right now, I think it best to send it to the spam pit as is. As fast as possible. Thanks for your help on that. All editors are encouraged to do likewise.

I’d like to see if this storm follows the same patterns before we start messing with ‘em.

Interesting. First a misspelled comment on a thread, then a short line of nonsense, followed by a long, complex line of “code” and URLs. The length of time between them seems to be measured in hours.

It might be interesting to “correct” the spelling in the first comment and see if their system still follows up. I removed one today from the “revenue crisis” thread. I could correct it and put it back.

Eight overnight spams, following the same pattern as last month. As predicted, the Coder replied to all of the Poor Spelller’s comments.

I just had a vision of some awful little old man being thrown into a vat of oil and coming up for air, nonplussed and swimming back over to the main boards and leaving oily bootprints all over everything.
