maybe it will be judged cynical but surely it is moderate.

When I was much younger the national debt was a huge deal. I think the approaching  number was a trillion and it represented the cliff that we were plunging  over. There were billboards clocking the rising debt and I was scared as hell. The number was so large it appeared to be beyond fixing.

Lo and behold without giving Reagan or tax cuts any credit,  the debt disappeared and without giving Clinton any credit we had a surplus

IMHO, the cliff will always be on the horizon. Our demise may come but again imo it will not be an economic demise.
