My father died of pancreatic cancer. There is a certain look of someone dying from this type of cancer. Steve Jobs has the look. He won’t be alive much longer. I might dare to guess weeks. With modern medicine, that could be extended but he may not want to extend it. The pain is god-awful and the helplessness horrific. He’ll be bedridden, unable to get up to go to the bathroom himself. I’ve watched it. I understand why my father begged my mother for a gun.

To be fair, Jobs had the responsibility of Apple’s fiscal condition to think about. Every time he coughed, the stock dropped ten points. I can’t really blame him for trying to soft-pedal his health issues.

His pancreatic cancer was of an unusually rare type, and much of his prognosis has been uncharted medical territory.

A little strange that Jobs insists on referring to his illness as complex but quite treatable, while medical professionals are mostly in agreement that it is pancreatic cancer.

There have been other cases of celebs in denial about terminal illness. Andy Kaufman comes to mind. I read somewhere that he was so convinced the Drs were fos, he refused any kind of treatment up to the very end.
