The current Kindle interface is horribly primitive. I'm not talking about the display, I'm talking about how they handle the information in the program. Cataloging books doesn't work very well. Just the simple ability to sort a list of books manually would be nice. Footnotes can only appear at the end of a chapter and you have to flip back and forth through a link. Would it be that hard to write the display program to shove the text up and put the note at the bottom of the current display screen? Any word processing program can do this on the fly and keep it placed as the text changes.

That's too expensive for me. And I really don't need the bells and whistles. Although, it does sound cool. Maybe the price of the Kindle will drop when this comes out. (Fingers crossed.) I just want to read.

Wow! That's pretty cool and if I were doing a kid's book might be great to utilize. But adults don't need all the bells and whistles for a regular book. Although, my novel has some cooking in it and I'm including recipes in an addendum or whatever you call it (it's late--errr early--and my brain's fried). My male protag writes a song in it so I could include that sung by someone with a good voice. And who plays guitar.

And before you run out to buy a Kindle, maybe wait and see what's coming up?

Sounds like the sort of goodies you get on DVDs. Things in the book that can only be done on a computer interface, like videos, interviews, and stuff like that. A somewhat overclocked example here.

My novels are just novels. So I'm not sure about enhanced or what it could possibly entail.

Thanks! Here's a link to East India Press. Some parts aren't up yet.

I'm not sure I'm ready to move into "enhanced" books yet. Pretty much leaves the current Kindle out, for starters.

He's starting an e-publishing company. His own new book will be its first publication. Then they'll open it up to other authors. He's going to give more info as it goes along. If I can find the Daily Kick where he discusses the company, I'll e-mail it to you.

Just found two of his earlier Daily Kicks where he talks about his new e-publishing company and e-mailed them to you.

Glad it's helping.

I'd love to get published by his new company. Which means I'll have to write a kick-ass best-seller. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.

Repeat until I've done it. ;-)
