I may have something to add to this. I have a writer acquaintance who lives an idyllic life half of the year in Greece on a small island and has a Greek wife. He posted something about the current Greek Tragedy and I've asked his permission to copy it. If he agrees, I will.

Trouble in Greece? What trouble in Greece? Why didn't anyone tell us? Why weren't we warned? How could this have happened? If I had only known I wouldn't have invested billions of Euros in Greece.

So, the business majors have stepped on their dick again and I, ER, am supposed to get all worked up over it? What do they expect me to do about it?. I don't invest in Greek banks, I don't invest at all. Although I know much of my prosperity has to do with investments and finance, I haven't personally and directly participated in a stock market since 1987. I've seen this mess coming since the 1970s, why didn't you? I told you so. The hippies were right. U Peeple redlined this planet right into the 21st century and now the motor is seizing up. Listen up, all you corporals of industry and mavens of high finance: I had nothing to do with any of this. It is not my problem. You deal with it. If it makes you guys feel you are "part of the solution", I know better. You ARE the problem.

Oh sure, this certainly can hurt me. These financial earthquakes will affect me, probably very negatively. It will affect all of us, probably very negatively. But the point is I had nothing to do with it, and I can do nothing about it. But I get the impression I am expected to do something about it. I am expected to feel a certain way, do certain things, get angry at certain people, support certain other people and policies. I am now being told, by the same financial morons who created this mess and profited mightily from it, that now I have to tighten MY belt, work harder, give up my hard-earned and frequently promised benefits, buy worthless consumer goods made in Chinese sweatshops, vote for them, support their "solutions", and most of all, see to it they don't pay any taxes and or be hobbled by any more regulations. The guys who screwed everything up are now telling us they need permission to do any damned thing they please in order to put things right. I work, pay my taxes, and pay my bills. I'm not in debt, YOU ARE. I may be the victim of your career games and ego trips, but I have no reason to come bail you out now. I don't have the means, anyway. They were all in your banks, and they invested in Greece.

So excuse me, but this is not my problem. My problem is how to protect myself and to survive whatever mess these imbecile middlemen and corporate cretins and their larcenous government handmaidens have gotten us into. There are things I can do to help me, steps I can take to protect myself. Bailing them out is not one of them. Managing the global economy is neither my resposibility nor within my power, so don't expect me to lose any sleep on how I'm going to help them pull their chestnuts out of their fire. In fact, managing the global economy was supposed to be the business majors' job, remember? And they fucked up. Now they want a tax break? Special privileges? Respect? My vote? They want a "free hand", they want to "let the market take its course". I've got news for you, Jack. There is no market. There are only people, and you are one of them. You are the market, it is totally under your control. This is all your fault.

Sure, maybe I'm guilty of benefitting from some of the consequences of these failed policies; yeah, I profited from the early stages of the global Ponzi scheme. But I didn't make the rules, and when I made suggestions and voiced my reservations no one listened to me because "I didn't know what I was talking about". "I didn't understand business." And now, when the whole system is collapsing, those same people that got us into this mess playing their masturbatory money games are now wagging their fingers at me and telling me what I need to do or not do. Tough shit, jack. I got troubles of my own. Take a bath, cut your hair, and get a job.
