You are only partly right. There is not enough regulation in that there needs to be more bidding to bring down the costs to schools and take away the excess profits from the big gamers who screw up the system by driving out competition. You have to have some regulation to level the playing field.

Education should be put into the hands of the educators–on a national level–where the cream of the crop who have risen to the top, are better able to write and teach what needs to be taught to students from K-12 & upwards. Anything else will dilute the information being taught and give out false data and downright incorrect info, not to mention politically motivated crap that has no place in the curricula. We’re supposed to be teaching kids to think for themselves, not WHAT to think. In order to do that, you have to get politics out of it.
