Remember "Newt" from "Aliens"?

Last week Terra Nova brought her character back, or at least a darn good replica. All the same mannerisms even the voracious appetite.

I don't know what they were thinking, a homage to a Sci-Fi giant? Or just a lazy rip-off of an already developed character.

At least the commander started acting all "commandery" but not up to his performance on Avatar.

Still giving it a chance...

For TV programs, I don't know about them unless they're advertised on TV.

I'm watching the premier now. I like so far.

This one will tank just like Firefly because the SOB's DON'T advertise. Everybody was anticipating Falling Skies because they advertised. Fox is run by a bunch of idiots.

I like it. The 2hr pilot included a taste of life on Earth depleted.

Hard to say how a major NW big budget scifi series will fare. For us fans of hard sf, it could wind up being Lost In Space, or Avatar lite.

Not that you would know from last night's episode but there is a rebel faction on Terra Nova. What they are rebelling against is unknown now but vague hints suggest that they are not bad guys and our fearless leader may be reprising his Avatar role

BTW,I thought it was neat that in the pilot they explained that they are living in an alternate time line. My first question was, how long until the extinction event. It seemed like a dead certain end for their "new earth", until they gave that explanation. Still seems iffy for a successful colony. :)

The premier was meatier.

Not surprisingly, they usually lavish a lot of effort on the pilot to sell it to the network.

You should be able to view the first episode online at http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv/Terra-Nova/107117/12804023/Genesis/videos . It's possible I can watch it because I have ComCast Internet service (but not TV), and I'd be curious whether or not you can. Or on hulu: http://www.hulu.com/terra-nova .

Not that it's great science fiction. Or sci-fi. Or even syffy. But the initial story in 2149 sets up characters and stocks up on backstory that they'll be playing out over time. I'd suggest watching the pilot to put it into context.

I'm gonna keep watching a few more episodes, anyway, before passing final judgment. It might be as amusing as last season's "V" remake. We shall see...
