Cement and Boilers October 6, 2011 8:00 pm RobVG

Tonight, president Obama said that repulicans wanted to “roll back” Epa clean air regulations.

That was incorrect. There are two bills: HR 2250 easing pending restrictions on boiler emissions and HR 2681 doing the same for cement production plants.

These bills are not a rollback of standards but a plea to delay implementation of strict new standards that will cost these industries dearly. There have allready been 2 manadated increases in EPA standards in just the last 10 years.

Obama used to say how many jobs he “saved”. Well if the bills don’t pass, 33,000 jobs in both idustries in will be put in jepordy. Idirectly 240,000 jobs will be at risk. These losses can be added to the 19,000 jobs lost because of the off-shore drilling moratorium.

The sad thing is, a large portion of the measured pollution is wafting in from China. China’s antiquated cement production technology uses 45% more power which comes from burning coal.

We will be buying our cement from China. How are you going to feel when we “rebuild our infrastructure” with outsourced cement?

But not to worry, we’ll have plenty of fresh air…..after our economy fails.
