That comment was about how Big Pharma averages what everybody pays and then counts of ripping off the USA with high prices to make their profits. So they're making us pay because Canada and Europe, etc. won't pay their outrageous prices. I made an unfortunate use of words. Of course it's Big Pharma. It's not Canada's fault but we are paying their share and Europe's share so Big Pharma can have their exorbitant profits, only a small percentage of which goes to R&D. A large amount goes to buying off politicians which they're hiding under marketing costs.

A perfect example of socialism for multinational corporations and capitalism for the small. "Capitalist" America gives massive subsidies to Big Pharma with the help of Conservatives who stifle free enterprise while paying artificially, non-negotiable high prices for drugs AND subsidizing research on new drugs through the NIH and colleges and universities. It's another example of free enterprise being the last thing the Conservatives want to see.

In all fairness, all national politicians have sold out to the drug companies.

Well, I'm not willing to subsidize Canada and other countries. Let THEM eat cake. I want the availability of life-saving drugs. As I said before, Big Pharma is manipulating the shortages. They make profits. Like Wall Street, they're just greedy. Plus, they like their multimillion dollar resort trips and all the other expensive things that wealth brings. Maybe they need to learn to live on a budget like normal people who can't afford their drugs do.

<p>Why drugs cost less in Canada</p>

<a href="http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2000/05/why_do_drugs_cost_less_in_canada.html" rel="nofollow">Here.</a>

300 million people are effectively subsidizing 30 million. This works fairly well as long as some idiot doesn't try to force the low price on everyone. If it gets evened out, we'll pay a bit less but Canada will have to pay more.

There's a reason not everyone who eats at a restaurant can get the senior discount.

There's something rotten in Denmark. Canada doesn't seem to have these problems and drugs are a helluva lot cheaper up there. What is happening is that Big Pharma is manipulating the market here in hopes of putting enough political pressure on Washington to reverse Medicare discounts and other negotiated price reductions.

It's Big Pharma vs. the elderly. They may have more money but we got more voters.

Nice try.
