I left that union and went to work for management, a large construction company. (It was union friendly, paid over scale and had a profit-sharing plan in addition to the union pension.) At one point my former boss asked me if negotiating for management was any different than labor. "Yes, Henry, there is one big difference. When I worked for you and we went to dinner during negotiations we would eat Spam and pay for it ourselves. At dinner with the management folks we eat filet and they pay for it."
