That is, of course, the classic map of general political leaning by county (ca 2004, in this case). Sure the protests are visceral and somewhat incoherent: Lotta people feeling backed into a corner by the Right Uber Alles. It might be a tad short-sighted for conservatives to take pleasure in that observation.
