In the Cuban revolution the US desperately tried to reinstate a regime more finely attuned to American criminal interests.

The image of the hordes tearing down the gates to the wealthy communities is what the US fostered in Iraq.

The reality is that any American revolution will have to have a leadership which has some control over the events.

And then when the hordes have torn down the rich, used up their loot, and go back to their warlord with their hands out, what does he do next month?

They are developing other tactics because the Tea Party has wealth and the infrastructure for their use. You people sneered at the guerrilla tactics used in Vietnam, but they beat the US. You folks sneer at the tactics used in Iraq and Afghanistan, but they are beating the US. (Democracy in Iraq? The present leader lost the election and is still the leader. As with every dictatorship there is a claim to legality, in this case not hard to see through.) Afghanistan is a completely lost cause, wasted effort. The Taliban, declared banished by GWB, is stronger than ever and has more support. Using military tactics you think are “unfair”.

As the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer, as the assault on the middle class continues and fewer people can earn health insurance and pensions, there will be more stress. As I noted, the Occupiers have more public support than the Tea Party.

These demonstrations in themselves are meaningless. But they do show that a significant part of the population is willing to take to the streets and stay there. And this is early on. Given the trends, what do you think it will be like in 25 years? Is there a similarity between the Occupiers and the Chinese in Tiananmen Square?

Compared to the Tea Party demonstrations, on any metric you care to measure, like arrests, property damage, assaults on police, blocking traffic, or sheer filth?

These people are mostly idiots, and despite the best media and Democratic efforts to artificially inflate them into some sort of “mass movement,” or “revolution,” they remain idiots.

These people could not mount an assault on a coffee shop, never mind a nation. The invention of “twinkles” is not going to be included in future books of military tactics.

We are already redistributing wealth to an extent that would have been unbelievable less than 50 years ago. Almost 60 percent of the Federal budget is social spending, and that doesn’t count state and local programs.

It is already being redistributed by force. Try not paying up and see what happens.

As well as probing for weak spots, creating new command, control and communication techniques, they are also training a new generation of leadership. Without military academies or police training, that will be essential…….or the wealth will be redistributed by force.

It won’t be this generation of leaders, or the next, but certainly by the third they would be ready to mount an insurgency if necessary. It would probably look like Iraq or Afghanistan, where the population would support them and the better armed and organized mercenaries and military would control whatever areas they were in, but be afraid to hang out with the people.

We need to redistribute wealth either by recreating the middle class or supplying such things as pensions and health insurance directly, or the wealth will be redistributed by force.

As the Blackwaters, the CIA, the NSA and military continue to enlarge their activities against the American people there will be more and more restlessness as folks trust their government less and less.
