How are most of those "other nations" doing right now?

They've run out of people to loot for their "positive rights." The European nations that are deepest in the hole of "democratic socialism" are tearing at the legs of those who aren't quite beyond salvage yet.

A "right" to houses, jobs(!), medical care, education. All things that have to be paid for by someone else if you can't carry it off yourself.

If you need something, you get to take it from someone else who has it. This is the fundamental moral code of the Left, and the fundamental code of every thug that's held someone up at an ATM. The ideology is imploding around this country and others. We are "way behind the times" in that our streets aren't burning yet. Not for want of trying lately.

There is a limit to how much denial is possible before you start doing damage to yourself.

I pointed out yesterday, I believe, how you and Cheney try to create a reality by simply claiming a reality.

There is clearly a lot happening, and I believe it is inevitable. The never ending trade deficit is an example of shipping our future well-being overseas.

I've stated my original point several times, will try it again. One, just one of the factors in the demise of the middle class is that jobs are being shipped overseas by large corporations. That has at least two effects.

One, there is a marginal increase in profit for the corporation and it's stockholders and management. Not a lot, because they still have to pay for the job.

And, every job lost has an effect in the US far, far larger than the money saved. The unemployed US worker will no longer pay taxes, will no longer have money to spend on clothes, cars, and so on. They will draw unemployment benefits and possibly food stamps. Eventually they may lose their house, car and need more public assistance.

The effect is a short-term gain in profit for the already wealthy, and a long-term loss to the country which far exceeds the gain.

Another factor is the success of the wealthy in developing a program to convince large portions of the middle-class to work against itself. Worried that someone might get something for nothing, they rail against public assistance. Afraid that someone might get a bigger bone, they work against Unions.

The US complains about other nations human rights, and points to itself as a model. (Yes, even after the Bush innovations in spying on citizens, torturing, unlimited imprisonment without notification of anyone, etc.) And yet other nations regard a job, housing, medical care and an education as a civil right.

We are way behind the times.

<p>The middle class had something to do with their own demise.</p>

While their jobs were being shipped abroad, the middle class enjoyed a standard of living increase due to cheap goods from overseas. So not only did outsourcing "save money returned to top management", it's allowed Americans to hang on to more of their own cash.

Are you saying the ultra wealthy caused the job losses and what we tax them won't make up the loss of middle class income? That implies if taxes 'could' cover the loses, it would be the wealth redistribution brought on by federal programs that would make things right again.

I don't think it works that way.

No one forces people to shop at Costco and Walmart. And we knew where the goods were coming from.

<p>I don't deny things, I refute them.</p> It's more work than simple denial.

What's your solution? Try a few thought experiments out and see what you get.

Only you could deny the loss of middle class jobs to overseas creates have-nots, costs the US economy in general, and profits the ultra-wealthy disproportionately.

That killing the goose, and losing the golden egg, has detrimental results for those who relied upon the golden eggs.

Only you.

<p>A dirigible made of depleted uranium is a concept.</p>

Now figure out the numbers. They're out there. Why should I have to do all the work? Bedtime.
