And I appreciate this heartfelt apology, even though the inclusion of the Afghan remarks were absolutely appropriate as noted by TB.

It takes guts to admit one was wrong without qualifications, explanations and excuses. I appreciate it.

Bowser's right. I did, as they say in the old Perry Mason shows, "open the door." I've used that myself a few times to get some licks in.

And yes, I stand by my main point that the Left is desperately trying to Fan the Flame. There was almost rejoicing out there when that poor guy got bopped by a tear gas cannister or something. I think they're working on building a statue of him.

The way I understood it was, the media is inflating the story and keeping it aloft. I guess you did see that point.

The tie connecting the American Afghan fighters to the OWS crowd was a bit over the top but you can't deny that the protesters are coming from a position of privilege.

Help me understand his points then. Correct me if I'm wrong.

By "pumping air" I thought he meant that the Occupy movement was being kept alive by the intense left-wing media coverage, that without the liberals artificial respiration they would go away.

Followed by a reference to what right-thinking, brave and noble Americans are doing by serving in Afghanistan.

If I misread TB I'd appreciate his, or yours, corrections.

Thanks.

Hey thank you Bowser for pointing that out to Tom, as if it makes a difference...
He still believes in the State Department "noise" (aka NeoCon bullshit) that "democracy" is good for the Middle East, that we are bringing them "freedom" on the backs of our 500 lb. uranium tipped smart bombs!
Add to that the killing of thousands of civilians and turning their cities into rubble. The ONLY people making money are the middle men and the corporations, the re-construction contracts, the arms dealers, the defense companies, the generals and politicians that own shares in those companies, and private security firms.
The list goes on.
If Tom STILL truly believes that, then he is CERTIFIABLE, along with anyone else who can't see past the bullshit.

I don't see the "pump air". I see reporting. And I think it's a legitimate story.

Meanwhile in Afghanistan 13 Americans died in a senseless effort to bring Afghanistan into the US fold. There is no war in Afghanistan for "freedom" against "oppression".

Here is "freedom" American style:

http://blog.soros.org/2011/06/karzais-civilian-casualties-ultimatum/

"The immediate event that precipitated Karzai's statements was an airstrike in Helmand province on Saturday that reportedly killed 14 civilians, two women and 12 children. This followed a string of prominent civilian casualty incidents in the last few months. In two separate episodes in the past week, in southeastern Khost and northern Takhar provinces, five civilians were reportedly killed in night raids. Earlier this month in eastern Nangarhar province, an Afghan National Police officer and his 12-year-old niece were killed in a night raid. An errant helicopter strike in March 2011 in Kunar province resulted in the killing of nine boys (made worse by ISAF mishandling the incident). A separate strike in the same area in February 2011 was alleged to have killed 65 civilians. The list goes on."

When the enemy can hide among the population, and the only areas you control are those at which you have guns pointed, you are in a war against the people, all the people, not some segment or fraction. And they don't want your brand of "freedom".

And when the US troops leave the 4 main domestic elements will fight for control of their areas. Again.

With probably the Taliban handling the international relations for this fractured miserable excuse of a country by Western standards.
