I would never suggest anyone go onto Estrogen therapy unless there was a specific problem that HAD to be addressed and estrogen the only answer. Of course, I would object to estrogen obtained from horse piss which is where they get their commercial shit. This is also why there are more side effects with estrogen therapy than natural estrogen. Human bodies don't recognize horse estrogen as quite the "in thing."

With progesterone, the female body will take it and convert it into estrogen when and if needed.

Holy Jumpin' up-and-down-Martha!!!! Estrogen side effects. One could become a skinny, drooling, cramped up and bloated, bleeding, blind, yellow vomiting mess with an increased sex drive. Oh, goody. "For a good time call Estrogen Esther while she can still hear her phone ring."

http://www.premarin.org/estrogen.html

Possible Side Effects:

The most common side effects include enlargement or tenderness of the breasts (both sexes), swelling of the ankles and legs, loss of appetite, weight changes, retention of water, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and feeling of bloatedness. The estrogen patch can cause skin rash, irritation, and redness at the patch site.

Less common side effects are bleeding gums, breakthrough vaginal bleeding, vaginal spotting, changes in menstrual flow, painful menstruation. pre-menstrual syndrome, no menstrual period during and after estrogen use, enlargement of uterine fibroids, vaginal infection with Candida, a cystitis-like syndrome, mild diarrhea, jaundice or yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, rash, loss of scalp hair, and development of new hairy areas. Lesions of the eye and contact-lens intolerance have also been associated with estrogen therapy. You may experience migraine headache, mild dizziness, depression, and increased sex drive (women) or decreased sex drive (men).

Rare side effects include stroke, blood-clot formation, dribbling or sudden passage of urine, loss of coordination, chest pains, leg pains, difficulty breathing, slurred speech, and vision changes. Men who receive large estrogen doses as part of the treatment for prostate cancer are at a greater risk for heart attack, phlebitis, and blood clots in the lungs.

See this article: On Progesterone effects on appetite.

You can skip down to the Summary if you like. I used to use this progesterone cream. It has real progesterone in it but it's light. You might give it a try and see if it helps. I would bet that it would. I need to start taking it again myself. It also helps with osteoporosis, preventing and reversing. You can get some here: You have to use it daily as ordered on the directions. I think it's a 1/2 tsp. per day if I remember right. You smear it on. Oh, and it's plant (soy) based progesterone. I don't think you risk the same side effects with it and it is a low dosage anyway. It also helps with other menopausal problems.
