edit: Yeah, the character was Greg Stilson, BIBLE salesman, dog kicker and presidential candidate in The Dead Zone.

I understand Eri, we have learned long ago that we don’t change anyone’s mind here and the most that we can hope for is to agree to disagree.

As for Gingrich I was more put off by quotes from his stupid novel than I was by his congressional tenure. I recognize he is a brilliant man and I am always willing to listen to brilliance.

I seriously doubt he will wind up being the candidate, but we could do worse.

On a lighter note, there is something about Perry that reminds me of a Stephen King character.

I’ll have to disagree, Frank. We saw enough of Gingrich when he was in Congress. We learned what he was really made of and he was driven from office after public reaction to all his ethics “problems” and his leadership in trying to drive Bill Clinton out.

So what has changed? If he wants absolution, he can join the Catholic Church. They give it every Sunday. As a voter, I don’t offer it and neither should anyone else. Character does not change. It evolves downward. He ripped this country apart once; he’d do it again.

None of those four would make a good POTUS. BTW, did you guys hear Cain likes “enhanced terrigation” techniques. SOB would put us right back into Quantanamo crap. We haven’t gotten away from the first Bush round yet.

And “What do you read?” is ambush journalism. Thought-provoking questions are labelled as “stupid”, because the Party hasn’t got an answer for them. The Party Line doesn’t leave any room for individual initiative, does it?

What the hell does “pride” have to do with it? Are you “proud” of Obama? In fact, have you been “proud” of any national politician in the last thirty years? Name one.

I have had an all-powerful centralized government inflicted on me by three generations of statists, and now I am forced to select an Emperor every four years instead of a chief executive. My concern is who will do the least damage, and with any luck at all, at least slightly reverse the steady drive towards the socialist abyss. Obama has both feet on the accelerator.

That is clearly how Conservatives are expected to act. Not allegiance to the “State”, but to any and all Conservative candidates no matter how incompetent and ridiculous they are. That is how Conservatives including you behave.
