"You Republicans seem to get stuck in the suck-up mud, enjoying putting everything squarely on the backs of a few and not willing to spread it around."

I'm going to give you a while to think about that statement, especially the "spread it around" part. Remember who pays almost all of the taxes now, and who pays almost none.

I'd bet that every last one of the millionaires at that meeting pays someone big bucks every year to make sure their tax bite is the legal minimum. They're just engaging in that most enjoyable liberal sport, gathering virtue by simply making a cost-free dramatic pronouncement.

P.S. Hope you're feeling better.

Yes, millionaires do. And I noted that the inquisition cut off the responders, not allowing them to say why. Were I a millionaire, I'd be glad to pay more but sure as hell wouldn't donate. That would put it squarely on the backs of a few people again. You Republicans seem to get stuck in the suck-up mud, enjoying putting everything squarely on the backs of a few and not willing to spread it around.

You're hopeless and pathetic in your attitudes and underhanded methods.

I notice something interesting.

Nobody commented on the "tax us" millionaires blowing off a chance to actually make their point. Just like nobody ever really addressed Warren Buffett's company currently battling the IRS over nearly a billion dollars in taxes it owes.

I'd back you up if I were able to sit and type but you're right and Tom's wrong and that's all there is to say about that, anyway! Keep up the good fight.

OK. The wars didn't cost anything significant to your way of thinking. I believe Cheney's estimate was $20 billion, quickly recovered from oil revenues. Wasn't that what he said?

Obama inherited a surplus and a healthy economy from Bush, much like Bush got from Clinton.

So far, so good?

Then Obama squandered all of that money on a stimulus package which somehow did not bail out the wealthy, the super wealthy and the ultra wealthy but was totally wasted on social programs for the undeserving and ungrateful.

I'm figuring it out, aren't I?

Now, there is still money being spent on social services. Therefore there is money which isn't in the hands of the wealthy, the super wealthy and the ultra wealthy. So the next reasonable thing to to is transfer that up to them so as to create more jobs, for accountants, valets, chauffeurs, caterers, landscapers, lobbyists and security guards.

On the right track?

How to do that? What's left? Food stamps!!! There's the welfare mother in Jacksonville who cashed hers in and played video poker (the proceeds being used to finance a multinational corporations subsidiary) and the one in Detroit who bought heroin with them. Cancel them, they are seriously abused by the undeserving and ungrateful, again.

Now, for a resurgence of the "thousand points of light". Where there were once cities glowing, roads humming, hospitals and universities lit up, now there are a "thousand points of light", dotted here and there, in enclaves with high walls and smug people, bragging that smaller governments, larger armed forces and capitalism with government subsidies clearly works better than anything else to enforce prosperity against the rabble.

I got it, didn't I??!! Stuck it. I could be the financial advisor to any Conservative candidate, could paint the vision, and draw the dream which could come true if only they would vote Republican.

Where can I sign up, like those Senators?

Q.E.D.

Another exercise for those who still live in this universe is to look at the actual cash flow between the wealthy and the "meek" in this country. By any standard of measurement or any categorization you care to name.

All the tap dancing in the world cannot erase, alter or amend reality. It's simple, logical and there's no way to dance around it.

Bush cut taxes on the rich, started two unwinnable wars, left Obama with a collapsing financial structure, and now the wealthy want to cut social services to pay for those wars and bail out hedge funds.

The meek are supposed to keep on enriching the wealthy.

See? You can't (or won't) learn.

We dealt with this. Everyone else here saw the cost of war numbers I posted (from an anti-war website) compared with things like the "stimulus package." Everyone saw my posts on Obama's budget illustration (showing where the government spends most of its money), Obama's budget historical tables for revenues and outlays in constant dollars, and Obama's own 2010 numbers on the figures for Bush's tax cuts for those in the upper income brackets.

I'm not going to repeat them here. I'm pretty sure almost all the relevant posts are less than a few weeks old. Not that repeating them would do any good.

The most fundamental characteristic of a dedicated leftist is a complete inability to import data that contradicts his or her beliefs. In fact, a leftist who sits down and actually thinks eventually stops being one (cf. David Mamet and others), and of course "natural selection" takes its course.
