I'm still fortunate enough to have my parents around.

Today, I set up a Skype connection with my niece, and got to see Dad blow out the candles on his 80th birthday cake. All the family members back there sat down and talked with my wife and me over the video hookup.

Fantastic.

On a sadder note, will be flying back to South Dakota for the funeral of my wife's beloved uncle.

I know what you mean Jody.

My Dad died in 1981, (wow, that long ago). He was a photo-journalist and quite a techie for that time.

He would have enjoyed the computer age as a browser and a tinker, I doubt he would have been a software guy.

He had many flaws and our relationship was spotty but your Dad is your Dad.

You and introvert? Hard to believe, You are too cute to be an introvert and too cute for your shirt, etc, etc. :)

How true. I finally got to know my Mom a little better during a time when I lived with her after I was divorced. Then we could talk a lot of topics that just couldn't happen as Mother/Daughter cut could woman to woman. I remember this one conversation among Mom, her sister-in-law and me about marital sexual things that were eye-openers. Yep, Mom's do it, too.
