A serious question. What is the US mission in Afghanistan? December 21, 2011 3:24 pm bowser

Not OBL.  Not ridding the place of the Taliban.  Not an honest democracy.  Not even an honest dictatorship.

This is not a wise-ass question.  I really can’t think of a legitimate reason.

The Afghanis don’t want us, the only folks who want us are the politicians who would be thrown out.

I’m not claiming there has been any sort of a victory.  Even Karzai’s personal bodyguard is still foreign.  What I am saying is that Bush could have pulled out before he left office with the identical result as now.  We still would have gotten OBL.

I don’t know why we are there.  Obama should at least make that clear in some terms besides “democracy”, “freedom”.  Even “oil” would be better than nothing.
