My mother had a wringer-washer on the back porch. I must have been 4 or 5 when soap suds overflowed from that thing. I ran in the house telling my mother we had snow on the back porch. She looked, explained it was soap suds, took a bunch of them to the driveway and said if it were snow it would last, but if it were soap suds it would disappear. I was unconvinced for years.
