It’s interesting how long-term political discussion resembles a game of Battleship. Discussion points, displays of data, or lines of reasoning miss or hit, getting a particular reaction, a rote reaction, no reaction, or (more instructive) complete evasion.

At some point you start getting an idea where the “ships” are, the general shape of the places the minds refuse to go.
