I think the "L" brothers had something to do with memebership decline.

They were a pair of twin counter- rotating hurricanes. I know Lindy left becuase of the continued 'muggings' by RL.

Both Davon and RL bruttaly beat Robert on community over allowing anomoly and biggotry to exist on the Zone. It was just plain ugly but I totally respect Robert's deccision on what to allow here.

That said, I always enjoyed encounters with Davon. No matter what the tension level, we usually managed to inject humor somewhere in our brawls.

You have to remember, when the boards were 'rolling', we had two newly planted rovers on Mars and had our reality shattered by an act of war. And, we were going to war. Not only going to war but starting a preempitve war. It couldn't have been more controversial.

Mabey with a new rover next year we'll pick up a few new members and rope in some old stragglers for awhile. Until then, I guess we're stuck with each other. ;)

Listen, it's like smoking. I'm the expert on quitting because I've done it so often. I've quit because I was pissed at Lee, and because I was pissed at TB, and once I quit because I was pissed at myself, for letting it get to me. I got furious with myself for losing my temper and doing exactly waht I criticized opponents for doing.

Losing your temper is stupid, anger is only justifiable if you can use it to help you summon the emotional strength to conduct a life or death struggle. To get angry at a computer monitor or someone you wouldn't recognize if you shared a cab with him, is ridiculous.

New Year's Day will be 3 years since I've smoked a cigarette, but I'm not making any promises.

Who better than me to respond.

I seriously doubt that you were more than a minor contributor to anyone leaving.

Originally, this was a highly conservative board. At some point the pendulum swung and the balance tilted to the liberals (or very close). This caused some conservatives to leave but I can't think of a single one that left on your account.

Probably an equal number of liberals have left and they certainly didn't leave because of you.

This was a thoughtful mea culpa Bowser but you shouldn't feel bad about anyone leaving. They left for reasons of their own, that you or I had little to do with.

Pebbles and drops.

Oh, come on.
If being annoying screwed up the board for everyone else, you'd be standing in a long line.

Justin is definitely one that had slipped my mind but he never started another site. He was about 15-16 when he came to MSNBC space board and has just joined the USAF when he left the board. He probably looks back and laughs at his time with us,

The guy I have forgotten hated anomalists with a passion and was big time right wing. He was a real hot head, and he shut down the board when he got pissed about something. Justin and Robert revived the board right after that.

The guy, whose name I forget at the moment, started several mainly political forums after that but none of them ever caught on He was involved with internet sales, maybe even some porn.

I'll bet Robert remembers his name and probably Tom as well. I think he was before your time Pod.

I really would rather not do this and it's way past time. So, what the hell.

I think my strident, overstated, mean-spirited posts may well have had an effect on many of the more reasonable posters. I will admit that at the time I felt so passionately about the matters I didn't care.

In retrospect there is no good excuse for such behavior and it may well have had an adverse effect on more than a couple of the people who left. Their loss is much greater than mine would be (except for RL and ed).

Anyway, I apologize to the group, and while I can't say I won't get powerfully incensed I will make every effort to be more civil or not post if I can't. I would hope that if I do come close to the old method someone will point that out.

I think Dan worked for WorldCom. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't, either, but that's what I remember.
