If you add up the amount of OPINION that each of us consumes, you are the clear winner, around here. That means that you are "told to believe" a lot more stuff than the rest of us. Do you read stuff that you agree with? Think about it.

You don't have to be told to believe things that are demonstrably true.

A good rule of thumb is that any premise that is allergic to examination, analysis, or further data is probably weak.

I make the point on this very thread (several times actually) that attacking one man or one business is not "anti-capitalism" anymore than criticizing a bad doctor is not the same as condemning the entire healthcare system. You completely avoid addressing that point, then you say this:

"If nothing else, this approach shows a tone-deafness that should have realized anti-capitalism isn’t really a direction a Republican wants to go."

What a total ass you are.

There is indeed a test of legitimacy and authenticity in politics. It's called an election. Until then, everything you say is just wishful thinking.

We'll talk this over again in November.

You can keep revising the outside world, but you aren't going to have much luck revising me.
Or yourself, for that matter. It's all down here in black and white.

For example, if you look back, was my response to OWS "fear?" Or amused contempt? Have you noticed that the entire movement, proudly hailed by Democratic leaders back then, has been quickly swept under the rug? When was the last time you saw the kind of media coverage it used to get?

In short, OWS turned out to be exactly what I said it was, and as I predicted they would back then, the Democrats are pretending they'd never heard of them.

This Republican primary crap will blow over, same as the Democratic primary crap back in 2008. Obama had one advantage: as soon as the primaries were over, the media fastened itself firmly to his ass and none of the baggage Hillary brought up during the primaries was ever mentioned by them again. The Republicans aren't going to be that fortunate.

The Democrats were obliterated in 2010, and for very specific reasons. None of those reasons have changed, or improved. Major Democratic politicians aren't "retiring" because they think they'd be sure winners in the next election.

Anything could happen between now and November. Sure as heck I'm not going to be running around in tight little circles that whole time. What for?

I pay attention to legitimate polls. Not online ones.

Oh, and by the way. I thought you never looked at the polls......

"Conventional wisdom" = what we're told to believe.

How many more liberals, liberal pundits, and outright leftists do you need to hear begging Republicans not to throw Obama in the Romney briar patch?

I know what beats Democrats soundly in elections. I can see the record for myself.

Gingrich is trying to back away from this, but is limited by the legality of working with a Super Pac (at least overtly). Unless he's just trying to distance himself from something he actually approves of.

If nothing else, this approach shows a tone-deafness that should have realized anti-capitalism isn't really a direction a Republican wants to go. Interesting that when the government picks winners and losers in business, nobody cares.

I notice the liberals here getting a little crispy already, and it's only January.

As for your optimism, if you look at the polls, the "middle of the road" (listed as independents or moderates) have abandoned Obama in droves. Did you see the poll I linked to on who would win if the election was now? Only Romney would win outright, but the largest margin of loss of ANY other candidate was eight points. Ron Paul(!) lost by only one point.

There will be a thousand excuses and explanations for Obama's loss next year. Stupid voters who don't realize what's good for them. Racism. Bad luck. Evil spirits. And of course, the ever-popular "voter disenfranchisement."

The economy is already tanked, and when Europe implodes, it's not going to get much better. If only Bush hadn't been running the EU.
