Being in a hurry sometimesusually bites you in the butt. I’ve had a disastrous week in my day job after I 1) installed a buggy new version; and 2) botched the installation of the buggy new version. I talk about how the Zone is where the software’s tested, but in this case the university’s been taking the hits while I fix the software.

So my title wasn’t really facetious. There could be a window today where I have a stable version of the software to install here; or I start another development cycle and the next release is one to two weeks away. The next phase won’t add anything we need here (unless we want to start charging admission, then I’ve got this cool e-commerce connection that charges students for courses), so I’ll see if I can get ‘er done today.

Or I could go work on the church Web site of a minister who’s an activist with Occupy Oakland. Good karma that direction too…;-) Many choices this fine Saturday.

We seem to be experiencing an abrupt net loss of participation. If in the off chance someone new finds their way here, it might be a good idea to put the OPEN sign in the window.

Sorry I misunderstood. The page appears blocked when you go to the page by typing the URL or some other method that doesn’t give the site a clue about how to evalute the security status of the page. When you go to the front page from within the site, it doesn’t get confused.

It won’t be six months until the next upgrade. I’m back to the mode of making continuous minor upgrades, after the last round which had several major (and disruptive) new features.

What’s the problem? Front page looks OK to me.

Flame? I see no harm in airing dirty laundry. Might even attract some folks, lord knows we could use some fresh faces.

Community seems like a place you need to earn to occupy. Keep the riffraff out.

Got the front page open to the public again. Damn thing had gotten itself categorized as belonging to Community (pages being just posts wearing page costumes), so it was private along with Community. Thanks for pointing it out. (Really. “By your command” is just a joke. I swear.)

And what about Flame? Its traditional flaming nature with its personal attacks argues for hiding our dirty laundry from the public. OTOH, some Zoners preemptively put posts otherwise appropate for Current Events on Flame instead, anticipating controversy. We might want to clarify the policy about Flame as we decide whether to keep it open to the public.
