The speech isn’t timid, and one can go over it quite a few times without seeing much “moderate.”

The “middle” voted for him because the “middle” is a lot more conservative than most people think. It just takes someone who knows his own philosophy backwards and forwards, believes in the positions he supports, and can communicate it effectively.

Admittedly, such people are not common.

You will note who the Democrats are actually spending money to make look bad. And I guess you will probably think that’s part of the conspiracy to get him nominated. Weird.

Any historical evaluation which has had time to evaluate all or most of the data will be very harsh on that empty suit, a willing puppet of those who wielded the authority of his administration.

What’s really amazing is that these liberals back then didn’t seem to be able to recognize what a nice, moderate centrist Reagan was, and instead spent eight solid years attacking him on every last front with everything they had. Of course, if that’s a recent picture of Romano he was probably still in diapers back then. Me, I was there.

It’s not like somebody dug up a wooden chest in the past couple of years with all this new information about Reagan in it. Everything in that article was public knowledge during his presidency.

So why was he a horrible, warmongering, right-wing troglodyte all during his administration, and is being given a Soviet-style “retrofit” by the Ministry now? Rhetorical question. The answer’s pretty obvious. Rewrite history and you get to write the future.

It means rolling over the opposition like it wasn’t there.

Four major elections that had two things in common: they were complete blowouts, and the Republicans were running on solid conservative ideas.

Must be like the sixth time I’ve tallied that off. Feel free to wipe it from your brain yet again, as you just completely wiped my earlier refuting of your constant “conspiracy” meme. You did manage to remember the screaming teenagers, though.

I make no apologies for my left of center (by US standards) politics, but I don’t consider myself extremist, indeed, I knew enough extreme leftists in college to know I don’t want any part of that crowd, besides my family’s own experience with Communism in Cuba. In fact, I have always been a fan of Margaret Thatcher, and if I lived in the UK or Canada I’d probably vote Conservative.

But after being insulted and mischaracterized by the New Right, and having to put up with their shrill rhetorical style, their intellectual arrogance and their incestuous alliance with the Christian fundamentalists, I don’t want them in MY country.
