Why a conservative can win. January 17, 2012 12:45 am bowser

This is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, certainly not documented, and I’d guess probably true.

There were headlines yesterday and lingering comments today for an event called the “Golden Globes”.  There are also the Emmys, the Oscars, the People’s Choice and myriad others.  I don’t know the names of most of those people, but that’s irrelevant.   These things are created because they make a profit, from someone.

Then there are the reality shows, the phony dancing competitions.

Those seem to me to appeal to someone with the concentration span of a flea in a frying pan, people who want cheap feelgoods, people incapable of thinking.  They are susceptible to sound bites, expressions of piety, patriotism, and so on.  They’d like to imagine themselves with the qualities of their interests, strong, independent, gunslinging think for themselves types as long as it just takes pinning on a flag on the Fourth, maybe a bumpersticker saying “These Colors Don’t Run” on the back of their Toyota pickup.

This is a broad brush, with many exceptions, and born of frustration.  I don’t understand how anyone with the cognitive depth perception to live in a 4 dimensional world can vote conservative.  Except for the filthy rich, who have really put the shuck on a lot of people in the name of artificial flavored patriotism, elastic family values and their own bigawd I don’t look for fights but I don’t run from one either concealed weapon.
