Should, but doesn't, belong on Space. Gingrich promises US moon colony by 2020 January 26, 2012 12:04 am bowser

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/25/10237875-gingrich-promises-us-moon-colony-by-2020

Why would Gingrich propose this at a time when the US financial situation is dire?  When millions of citizens are suffering from the recklessness fostered by GWB for eight years, when we have no way to pay for the wars fostered by the Republicans?

Because the wars are winding down, and the huge corporations who profit from wars also profit from space exploration.  Because Georgia benefits disproportionately from space spending.  Because he really doesn’t care about the fiscal responsibility of the US, the welfare of the people of the US, but is intensely interested in enriching his political base – mega-corporations.

I’d like to see an American moon base.  I’d like to see an American Mars base.  And I’d like to see all Americans with preventative health insurance.

These grandstanding Republicans are certainly after power and money.  At any cost to the citizenry.   Flag-waving, God-fearing, salt-of-the-Earth types who would give you the shirt off a poor person’s back.

  • That certainly does sound a lot more "big government project" than the low-key "prize" based concept I linked in an earlier post. by TB 2012-01-26 08:54:47
