“Shitstorm” is useful because everyone knows what it means now (“a sychronized barrage of political attacks on someone across a wide range of mainstream and alternative media”)

But “fusillade” works, and I’ve seen “avalanche” used today, too.

Ya know, I can’t think of a reason why I would object to the use of “shitstorm” in a title. Context is everything, and you’re using “shitstorm” correctly in a sentence. It’s a crudity in that context, but not an epithet. An epithet would be something like “[politician] is a piece of shit!”, and epithets don’t belong in subject lines.

I know that once upon a time we simply said no “bad words” in subject lines, but that’s too simplistic. You have a reason for using “shitstorm”, and I don’t want you to muzzle yourself without a compelling reason.

It’s not my decision to make alone, though. That’s why I didn’t just put the word in my own subject line. But I’ll bet a little post in Community would draw a bunch of “of course” comments and we’d be done.

And don’t forget that you can edit your title if the verdict goes your way.
