TB is right...in a way..I would hire help. However, I could do that now. I would just have to cut back on something else. I can't have it all. I don't want it all. I have to work for everything or I do not appreciate my blessings. My life has to be a struggle because that is what challenges me. I do not shy away from a challenge.

I would still shop at antique malls and Goodwill. I would cook my own meals. I would still clean my own toilets.
I have enough.

I am a world class enabler. That mindset would have to change and I doubt I can at this stage in my life.....I, like Frank and Bowser, would have long lost family members vying for my attention.

However, I am the only female here on the Zone. I am not the breadwinner.

With my husband now retired, it eliminates a lot of the money issues because we simply can't enable anymore. We have to make do. So do *they*.

I don't even want that *2 carat solitaire diamond ring anymore*.

Oh Hell Yes

Everything in my life (besides money) couldn't be better.

I'd just like to pay the bills and not worry about losing my job. Actually just like to quite my job and work once in while just because I feel like it.

I'd like to fly Mig's in Moscow, have a used (Countach) Lamborghini and a few Corvettes. I'd like to race motorcycles again. I know- typical capitalist carrots.

The thing I'd like to do most is travel with my wife. We'd like to go to Africa and spend some time in an around the place. Madagascar is high on the list. C'mon, who wouldn't like to see the world?

But after a while you might start looking for something more. Like adopting children from impoverished countries, drilling wells for tribes in undeveloped areas, removing land mines from war torn countries etc etc.

You often see celebrities (who didn't have money to begin with) who after a few years of success, start to look for meaning in their own lives. Altruism seems to be the next obvious step after money is no longer a consideration.

You can't help anyone else when you're in need yourself. Applies to many areas of life.

Of course. A no-brainer.

I could buy a larger house where my wife's health issues could be much more easily accommodated, and we would have more space for our work and recreation.

When my parents are older, I could afford to give them ways to stay in their homes. I wish I could have done it for my grandparents.

Emergencies, like car repairs, medical bills, or college needs wouldn't be the budget busters they are now.

My wife wouldn't be worried about her job carrying four people.

We wouldn't have to worry about our own old age.

Travel would be easier. We could visit our Midwestern relatives often, instead of just once a year. We could afford to fly my parents and other elderly relatives out to visit us, first class in comfort. That's assuming I'm nowhere near the "private jet" class of rich.

We could go to a lot of places we haven't been to yet, and do it in style and ease.

Yes, more wealth would make our lives easier, more stress-free, more comfortable, and open up more options. I can't think of anyone I know that this wouldn't be true of.

The simple life can be lived by someone with lots of money if that's what makes them happy. It doesn't work the other way around.

I would welcome the opportunity to deal with those problems.

I would surely experience the same from any relatives that learned of the windfall.

I am sure you are not planning on taking it with you and I suspect you have some ideas on who or what would best benefit from the money.

In my case, the cousins could, and would be invited to kiss my ass, I have not had dinner with them lately and don't plan to start.

My immediate family would soon drain me dry, but not before I provided a taste for myself and Alice. After that I would be happy to help in ways that would provide for their future.

Here's the deal...

If you are happy, rich will probably make you more happy.

If you are unhappy, rich will probably make you less unhappy.

Famous anonymous quotation: I have been rich and I have been poor, rich is better.

Poor is different from not rich, but still...

I can understand how people overestimate the power of money to solve all their problems, but still...

Definition of rich, to me, is over 5 mil, liquid, unencumbered.

Definition of, villa in South of France, really rich, is over 50 mil, liquid, unencumbered.

The former would be fine with me. French villa is not my style.

Rich provides an opportunity for achievement, that is a simple fact.

Rich is often synonymous with power and fame. The latter is a nuisance, as for the former, I have heard it is good to be King. :)

The odds of being made long term happy with riches is probably directly correlated with one's satisfaction with their current status. In the long haul, nothing is likely to make the miserable happy.

Finally, "A fool and his money are soon parted." I have seen this proved over and over.
