Maybe "Snarky", "Snotty" or "Smuggy"?

Or just as accurate: Asshole-ness

An odd coincidence, quite a chance occurrence. You almost defined the word with your post, but only almost.

The obvious sincerity removes any smarmy aspect all by itself. Nothing more is needed. And couple that with the clear and convincing demonstration of your ability to perceive and appreciate the concept and execution of such a complex post underscores that sincerity and your superb discernment.

We are to be congratulated. It is posts like these which will demonstrate to those less fortunate how to eliminate the "cow flop" which pervades so many threads and posts.

You have made it clear one need not be smarmy, sarcastic or condescending to make their point. Thanks for the kind words.

(I have to stop now. The keys are acting heavy, I'm having to pound the board. I think it's a bit thick.)

I didn't get it.

Of all the many flaws of the many people who have frequented this board, I don't recall "smarminess" being among any of them.

Myself, I'm a proud member of the Brotherhood of Dicks (no pun intended.)

I will happily take a soft, half-baked argument, light it on fire, throw it out a third-story window, then stand on the windowsill and piss on it until the fire is out. I'm pretty sure that's somewhere on the other end of the "ingratiating" curve.

Oh bowser, what a lovely post!

Delightful subject line, clever use of advanced HTML entity coding to get those really cool accented characters. And what a model of rectitude you are, crediting the source right up there at the top. And to list synonyms...oh my, that is truly the cherry atop a truly fulsome lexicographic sundae.

Well done, bowser! Bravo!
