The obvious sincerity removes any smarmy aspect all by itself. Nothing more is needed. And couple that with the clear and convincing demonstration of your ability to perceive and appreciate the concept and execution of such a complex post underscores that sincerity and your superb discernment.

Of all the many flaws of the many people who have frequented this board, I don’t recall “smarminess” being among any of them.
