Stopping the damage? Obama seems to have a decent track record of that already. How quickly we forget the shitstorm he inherited.

You know...

If you want to run on that level I can do it with turbines. Someone who spent eight years hanging off Bill Clinton's ass had better be damn sure his parameters for presidential qualifications and honesty are consistent.

I could care less what Romney said about voting for Tsongas. You think this is the most critical factor this fall?

This country is at an ideological crossroads. We know now what Obama believes, not by what he tells everyone in speeches but by what he's actually done and attempted during his first term and long before that. A "Mirror of Erised" campaign based on "hope" and "change" that worked in 2008 isn't going to work this time.

And neither will one article after another written by a leftist hack like Chait.

I could think of better candidates than Romney, but most of them are still coming up the ranks. I can wait. The trick is to stop the damage, and Romney at least has a chance of doing that.

Oops. Maybe a poor choice of word. Especially in the subject line.

And, trying to corner TB is like catching an eel in a barrel of cooking oil. You know you have him cornered but you'll never get him to admit it.

You're a slippery f**k, but the question was do YOU really believe his provable lies?

And yeah, obviously Mitt is a tougher opponent than Rick simply because he is a moderate.

If Chait had anything better he would have used it.

Are we saying now that Romney can't win because he's too "moderate?" Doesn't sound like what I was hearing a couple of months ago from Democrats.

Democrats really need to start writing their memes down on a board or something to keep track.

Keep telling yourself that Tom. Blind yourself to the FACT that there are now two distinct GOPS: The establishmentarians who have run the party for so long, and the teabaggers who have swelled in numbers and are dragging the GOP to the extreme right. Clearly the latter are taking over the party to the horror of the establishment.

Look at an extremist like Santorum winning all the red states, while Romney has won nearly all of his delegates from states Obama is almost certain to carry in Nov. If Santorum wins IL Romeny could be toast. And in Congress, look at the puny infrastructure bill Boehner tried to push through, and the tea party idiots killed it despite the fact that it creates business uncertainty.

Romney is a GOP establishment guy. All his advisers are moderate republicans. Did you read the other articles I linked to in another anti-Romney post I made? The guy is a pathological liar. He denies he said things that are on videotape and in op-eds.

Are you really saying that YOU, unlike SO MANY OTHER rightwingers, can't see that this guy is severely lying to you about his position on nearly every core conservative issues?

Honestly, other than giving the wealthiest Americans another huge tax cut, I don't see much fundamental difference between any Mitt Romney Administration and President Obama's.

I think the premise in that article is based on some pretty tenuous information.

An anonymous Romney advisor? A comment from 45 years ago, during the 1968 Republican primaries, taken out of context from a book written by Boston Globe reporters? Romney was all of 20 at the time.

(Odd how young behavior is so significant for Republican presidential candidates, but not Democratic ones.)

This isn't about what Romney actually thinks. This is about the Democrats launching yet another phony narrative when so many others have been blowing up in their faces.

Most Americans have a pretty good idea which party actually has contempt for the "bitter clingers."

What you are seeing in that article is Chait's views of conservatives, not Romney's.

Agreed. That's why I gave up on it long ago and became such an ass.

So what do you think of Mitt's distain for the intelligence, or lack thereof, of the gop base?
