While an order of magnitude above Limbaugh and Coulter, I don't regard any of them as being close to Buckley and Safire. Safire especially was both smart as hell and entertaining. A master of the English language.

The problem is that each of them exemplifies some part of what got the US into the mess we are in.

Why Republicans would like to perpetuate the decline of the US is beyond most of us.

There are still a few Conservatives who have not succumbed to the plague yet; Will, Rove and Krauthammer come to mind. And they are just as appalled at the Mad Hatter Tea Party as the rest of us.

Keep in mind, they don't have to defeat George Washington. They just have to defeat Obama.

The change in the Republican Party has been dramatic, and can be exemplified easily. Their intellectuals used to be Bill Buckley and William Safire, good minds no matter the politics. Now they are Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.

I was reading that Santorum thinks a win in Illinois would give him the nomination. Doesn't matter, if the American public elects either Romney or Santorum we deserve what we get. And it could happen. Reagan, that empty suit, was elected twice. GWB served twice, wasn't elected.

Realistically it's hard to respect anyone who would vote for Palin to be VP. Or to trust the judgment of anyone who would pick her. And yet there are millions who voted for her. No wonder people curse the educational system in this country.

America deserves the government it elects. However, any of those Republicans would be a cruel trick on the rest of the world. They don't deserve it.

Like I said, no Democrats nominated any of those knee-walking turkeys. Republicans did. This meme's all on your people, not mine; if you don't believe me, just check out how these guys and their followers are talking about each other.

I'll repeat again, there are some good people in your party, "good" not because I necessarily agree with their policies, but because they are intelligent and reasonable men. The Right denounced them all as moderate or RINOs. Now the GOP is just going to have to accept responsibility for its actions...

Your're just making excuses for these dildoes and bimboes like you used to make for Dubya.

Q.E.D.

The Democrats are doing nothing but publicizing the meme you're pushing, which is what I told Jody.

I have looked at the list. I know their backgrounds, ideas, and experience. There are some people there I would not want to run. The rest would do quite well.

Three of them are or have been successful governors. One of them was a U.S. Senator with three times the experience of the current president.

And more importantly, although they are far from marching in lockstep, and I don't agree with a number of positions some of them have, they all share much different ideas about government, economics, and rights than the current president.

The idea that none of them could do a better job than the guy currently in office does not stand up to very close analysis--which is not equivalent to firing long strings of epithets at them. But as Jody should realize, this is pretty much all the Democrats have in their quiver right now. That, and fifty-year-old leftist tropes.

You have a bit of nerve invoking "hordes of enthusiastic followers" in this context. I saw how Obama got elected. It won't happen twice.
